Worth knowing

  • Augusta-Richmond County has no short-term rental ordinance, no STR permit and no STR use category. The Commission looked at regulating in 2023 and chose not to.
  • That can change. Before you rely on it, check the county's adopted-ordinances list.

Lodging tax

Augusta levies an 8% hotel-motel tax (since 1 October 2025) and a $1.00 per night Transportation and Tourism Fee. Whether that nightly fee reaches short-term rentals is not settled in the published code - worth asking the tax office directly.
